WHAT DOES IT MEAN WHEN THE VILLAGE ISSUES A BOIL WATER ORDER?
A "Boil Water Order" is issued by a municipality when the county health department determines that there is a potential threat of contaminants entering the water supply.
Water users are asked to boil their water for two minutes before using it for drinking or cooking. The order is usually issued due to a water main break, scheduled water repairs or a loss of disinfectant (chlorine) in the system. Orders remain in effect until water samples collected confirm the water is free from contaminants, typically 48 hours after water is restored.
Water may safely be used for showering or bathing as long as care is taken not to ingest the water. Elderly, young children and immunocompromised individuals should refrain from these activities until the order is lifted. Do not use the water for washing fruits and vegetables unless it has been boiled for two minutes and cooled. Water may be used for washing clothes unless it is discolored. Do not use the water for hand washing dishes. Using a dishwasher using hot water temperatures of 170 or higher is an acceptable sanitation technique.
Customers are also advised against using any water that appears cloudy or discolored, especially hot water, since such usage will draw the water into the hot water tank, and customers will have to flush the tank until clear. Customers should also avoid washing their clothes in discolored water, since it may contain sediments that could permanently stain their laundry.
HOW DO I GET A DISABLED PARKING PERMIT?
Disabled Parking Permits are isssued by the Trenton Town Clerk. You must bring in the application signed by your doctor or a prescription from your doctor saying you are eligible for a permit. Permits can be temporary (6 months) or permanent (up to 5 years).
