Village of Barneveld
Welcome to the Village of Barneveld

The Village of Barneveld is building this website through a cooperative grant obtained by the Northern Oneida County Council of Governments. The completed website will be available at this URL in the coming months. Please stop by again.

Barneveld is a small, but beautiful and historic village located just off State Rt. 12, about 10 miles north of Utica NY, the gateway to the Adirondack Mountains.  The history of the village dates back to its settlement in 1793.  Two creeks join in the village, the Steuben Creek and the Cincinnati Creek, forming a picturesque setting.  Since 1900 only about a dozen new homes have been constructed, giving the village a distinct well-settled and richly historic atmosphere.

News:
STORMWATER SYSTEM TO BE MAPPED DURING JUNE
June 05, 2008

The Village of Barneveld is in the process of developing a Comprehensive Plan for land use.  One of the goals of our Comprehensive Plan is to improve infrastructure and community facilities within the Village.  As you may know, several residents in the Village are directly affected by flooding caused by stormwater runoff.  Therefore, the Village and the Oneida County Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) are cooperating to develop a map of the Village's stormwater system.  In order to complete the mapping project, personnel from the SWCD will be walking through the Village streets and along stream corridors with a Global Positioning System.  Personnel may occasionally cross private property in order to identify stormwater outlets. This work is scheduled to take place during the month of June.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the Village office at 896-4514 or the SWCD office at 736-3316 ext. 3.
